Dorothy Ann Williams

Dorothy Ann Williams passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Born on October 14, 1928, in Ellinger, Texas, to Anna and Floyd Vest, Dorothy spent her childhood moving throughout the country with her beloved younger brother, Harold, before her family settled in El Campo, Texas. She earned her Executive Secretary certificate from Durham Business College and put her exceptional bookkeeping skills, organization, and strong work ethic to use while working alongside her father at his company. It was in El Campo that she met the love of her life, James "Jimmie" H. Williams. They were married on March 12, 1948, beginning a beautiful partnership that would last a lifetime. Dorothy cherished her roles as Jimmie's wife and the devoted mother of their three children, Scherry Lynn, Melanie Gail, and Kerry Drew. Whether caring for her family, creating with her hands, or working beside Jimmie, Dorothy expressed her love through thoughtful acts of service, quiet devotion, and unwavering grace. A gifted seamstress, Dorothy created beautiful handcrafted clothing for her children, from custom tennis uniforms for her son to elaborate dance, cheerleading, and twirling costumes for her daughters. Every piece she made reflected her creativity, precision, and love. She later combined her talents for bookkeeping and tailoring when she and Jimmie owned and operated Courtesy Cleaners in downtown Richmond, Texas, for twenty-two years. Together, they built not only a successful business but also a lifetime of cherished memories. Dorothy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved birdwatching, the beach, her cherished cats, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Never one to believe it was too late to learn something new, Dorothy learned to swim and ride a bicycle in her forties and later took up golf, enjoying countless days on the course alongside Jimmie. Dorothy was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James "Jimmie" Williams. She is lovingly survived by her dear brother, Harold Vest, who, despite the miles between them, remained an active and cherished part of her life; her beloved children, Scherry Lynn Williams, Kerry Drew Williams, and Melanie Gail Williams-Booth; her grandchildren, Mason Booth, Sarah Booth Doss, Ashley Williams, and Erin Williams; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Gregory, Lacee Booth, Connor Smith, and Braelynn Turner. Though her hands are now at rest, the love, care, and beauty she stitched into the lives of those around her will remain forever. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
