Claudia Mae Pyka

Claudia Mae (Hotz) Pyka, 96, of East Bernard, Texas passed away on February 5, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 12, 1920 in Thomaston, Texas to Edward and Annie (Scarborough) Hotz. It was in Rosenberg that Claudia met Julius Pyka. They were married at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg and were united in marriage for 62 years. Claudia was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Claudia was proud to be a decedent of the Antoine & Catherine Golly (Goli) Family of Castroville, Texas, who were amongst the first settlers of the Republic of Texas. Her hobbies included gardening and tending to her flowers. She took great pride in supporting her husband and children and their families in all of their endeavors. This loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend will be missed. In addition to her parents, Claudia is preceded in death by her husband, Julius W. Pyka, Sr.; son, Jimmie Pyka; seven brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her children, Julius Pyka Jr. and wife, Lea, Jo Ann Ishee, Janice Ware and husband, James, and Jerry Pyka and Patricia Lee Yongue; sister-in-law, Helen Hotz; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; along with extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A second time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Father Don Ruppert will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. For those wishing, memorials may be made to Houston Hospice – El Campo, P.O.
