Charles Wesley Webb

Charles Wesley “Wes” Webb, 68, passed away on December 26, 2018. He was born on November 10, 1950, in Houston, Texas, son of the late Charles Wesley Webb, Sr. and Helen Martin Webb. Throughout his illness, Wes believed that every new day was a precious gift and an opportunity to love God and grow in his faith. Wes’s life was centered around his love for his family. Those blessed by his love and devotion are his wife Cheryl Webb, son Matthew Webb, daughter Jennifer (Jerrod) Gunter, grandson Wyatt Gunter, brothers John Webb and David Webb, and a large extended family. Wes was a wonderful and faithful friend to a multitude of people from all walks of life. He led a life of service and always recognized opportunities to help others. His generosity is fondly remembered by many. Wes had a great faith and lived it. One could not be around him long without knowing he loved God. Wes was a prayer warrior and student of the Bible. 2 Timothy 4:7 sums Wes’s life perfectly—“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Wes was a loyal, passionate, and successful leader in the building materials industry. He retired from Boise Cascade in Sugar Land, Texas, after a 27 year career with Furman Lumber/Boise Cascade BMD. Under his leadership, the business grew rapidly and became the leading building materials distributor in the Houston market and one of the largest and most profitable locations within Boise Cascade Building Materials nationally. Wes had a wonderful ability to develop relationships with his customers and suppliers and that continued throughout his career. He had a positive influence on his employees and peers and was a great teacher and mentor who was never reluctant to demand the best of the people he led. When he retired in 2016, he left a business that was well-prepared for continued success as a result of his leadership. Wes preferred to spend his time in the outdoors. As an outdoorsman who had a passion for nature, he spent countless hours hunting and fishing with his family, friends, and colleagues. His passion led him to travel extensively. One of his favorite places was his fish camp in Alaska. Wes loved fishing with his son and looked forward to teaching his grandson to fish. The family would like to thank the Houston Methodist Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff for the love and care given to Wes during his time in Methodist. Services will be held at Fishers of Men Lutheran Church, 2011 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, Texas, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Lunch will be served following the service at the church. Friends are invited to share special memories during this time.
