Charles E. "Pete" Caldwell, Jr.

Funeral services for Charles E. "Pete" Caldwell, Jr., 88, of Rosenberg, Texas will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, January 12, 2009 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Pete was born May 14, 1920 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Charles E., Sr. and Margaret Barrier Caldwell. He grew up on a farm in Oklahoma and then served in the U.S. Army Corp as a Master Sergeant in WWII. After the war, his life occupation was in the Oil Industry traveling around the world selling geophysical equipment. He retired from Mertz Inc. where he was a world wide sales manager, at the age of 70. Pete was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rosenberg, the V.F.W. and the Geophysical Society of Houston. He started Caldwell Hydroponic Farm growing tomatoes for the local area. He built and opened the Caldwell Executive Golf Course in Beasley. Pete always enjoyed having coffee with all of his friends at the local coffee shops. He passed away January 8, 2009 in Rosenberg. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Caldwell, Sr.; brother, Benton Caldwell and his sister, Tommy Sue Howell. Pete is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Phillips Caldwell of Rosenberg; his children, Phyllis Caldwell-Crowley of Rosenberg, Margaret Ann Kleinhans and husband, Richard, of Huntington, Charles E. Caldwell, III and wife, Cay Dee, of Rosenberg, Joy Schaatt and husband, Jeff, of Richmond, and Patty Gonzales and husband, Jimmy, of Rosenberg; grandchildren, Christopher Crowley and wife, Jennifer, of Mooresville, NC, Melissa Detweiler and husband, James, of Spokane, Washington, Rich Kleinhans of Dallas, Jessica McClain of Richmond, Julie McClain of Richmond, Jenna Schaatt of Richmond, Chelsea Caldwell of Rosenberg, Emily Benson and husband, Rob, of Bastrop and John Gonzales of Rosenberg; five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Miriam Hanna and Sue Smith; along with other relatives and many friends.
