Carolyn Kay Wooten

Carolyn Kay Hartfiel Wooten Carolyn was born February 28, 1941 in Rosenberg Texas to Grover H. Hartfiel and Bertha M. Hartfiel. She passed away December 29, 2023 with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her father Grover H. Hartfiel, mother Bertha M. Hartfiel and son Lee Weston Wooten. Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Fort Bend County. She is survived by her Husband of 51 years Lawson L. Wooten of Richmond TX Her daughter Selaura Evans and Husband Cody and grandson Cameron Evans of Needville TX and many other friends and Family. Carolyn was the 1957 Fort Bend County Fair Beauty Queen and was in the 1959 graduating class of Lamar High School where she was a cheerleader and a member of the tennis team. She attended Lamar (Tech) University in Beaumont and the University of Houston. She started her working career at the Herald Coaster in Rosenberg where she enjoyed writing columns about the Richmond/Rosenberg communities. She went to work for Humble Oil Company on April 1, 1964. She retired from ExxonMobil on December 18, 1997 after 35 years of dedicated service. Carolyn was a Life Member of the Fort Bend County Fair and St. Johns UCC. She was an active member for many years in The American Red Cross for the Greater Houston Area where she was the volunteer of the year in 2009 for the Southwestern Office. She loved working in her yard and attending her many plants and flowers. She loved animals and always carried treats for those she came across. She was a wonderful loving wife and life companion and mother to her children and will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends she made on her life’s journey. Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, with Reverend Kenneth Richter officiating. A Celebration will be held at 11:30 A.M. at the United Church of Christ 1513 West Street in Rosenberg. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to the American Red Cross, The SPCA, Fort Bend Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
