Bobby R. Davis

Funeral services for Bobby Ray Davis, 78, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10:00 a. m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Bobby was born April 11, 1934 in Baytown to Monroe Fletcher Davis and Myrtle Sparks Davis. He graduated from Missouri City High School and attended Abilene Christian College. He married Shirley Ann Clement on August 3, 1956. Bobby was employed by Gulf States Tube Corporation for 25 years beginning January 1956, throughout this time serving as an officer of Local Union #5754 of United Steelworkers of America. He then served 17 years as a Staff Representative for United Steelworkers of America. He was actively involved in the Democratic Party, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, which was presented by Fort Bend County. He passed away on March 12, 2013 in Rosenberg. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Myrtle Davis; sisters, Dorothy Davis Bosak and Juanita Davis Facemire; and brother, Elbert Davis. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Davis; sons, Michael Ray Davis, Steven Bradley Davis, David Jay Davis and wife, Debbie; daughter, Sherry Beth Davis Hales and husband, Bruce; sister, Betty Jo Davis Shoemake; brothers, Monroe Fletcher Davis, Jr. and Cecil Wayne Davis; grandchildren, Shanna Rae Davis, Bryan Anthony Davis, Bradley Allen Davis, Brandy Storm Holmes, Burgandy Starr Holmes, Lloyd "Bud" Holmes, Jr., Deanna Nicole Greer; Daniel Davis and Cody Wayne Davis; great grandchildren, Alic and Brenden Alonzo; Bradley, Jonathan and Summer Davis; Tyler, Trevor and Katelyn Greer, Malaya Strambler and Jackson Davis; along with other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe, Houston, Texas, 77030, whom the family would like to thank for the outstanding care given to the entire family.
