Billy James Gray

Billy James Gray, 67, of Needville, Texas passed away peacefully at his son's home in Needville on January 24, 2008. He was born April 15, 1940 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to William Lee and Onie Lee Durant Gray. He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Vera Mae Schonert Gray; and his parents, William Lee and Onie Lee Gray. Billy is survived by: Children: Donald Gray and wife, Lisa, of Needville, Bryce Gray of Kyle, Cindy Gray-Lopez and husband, Edward, of Mountain City, Kirk Gray and wife, Tina, of Newburg, PA; Sister: Ruby Lee Gray Brasher of Needville; Grandchildren: Lee Gray of Lubbock, Chancellor Gray of Newburg, PA, Agusta Gray of Newburg, PA, Gardner Gray of Newburg, PA, Nicole Fink of Mountain City, Kayla Fink of Mountain City, Veronica Lopez of Mountain City, Chelsea Gray of Bastrop, Brynn Gray of Kyle; He is also survived by numerous family and friends. Needville has been home to Billy for all his adult life. He has been a rice farmer and cattle rancher in this area for years. Billy was a quiet, simple man, with a heart of gold. His friendship was considered a treasure. He will be missed for years to come. Serving as pallbearers will be Rueben Hernandez, Nathan Jan and Steven Dornak, Chris Jacobs, Mike Buffaloe and Marlin Pekar. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Gray, J.D. Gray, Tom Bosse, Virgil Lewis, Donald Bennett, and Johnny Banker. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Billy's name to Texas Cowboy Church, 15404 FM 1489, Orchard, TX 77464. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, January 27, 2008 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 28, 2008 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg with Billy's Pastor, RO Murray of Texas Cowboy Church officiating the services.
