Barbara Ann (Scott) Schlueter

In Loving Memory of Barbara Ann Schlueter With deep love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Schlueter, who left this world peacefully on September 5th, 2025, at the age of 75. Barbara’s life was one of warmth, devotion, and strength. She was born on August 17th, 1950, in Houston, Texas. She was a Milby High School graduate; Barbara then attended the University of Houston, where she met the love of her life, Carl Schlueter. They were married on Christmas Eve 1971 and raised two daughters, Carla and Joey, in Needville, Texas. Over the years, Barbara embraced many roles with grace and purpose: a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, a nurturing mother, and later, a proud grandmother. She thrived on doting over her four grandchildren, Kathleen, Britney, Cayden, and Kyle, who loved her as their “Memaw”. Barbara spent the majority of her years working in retail. She also worked as a teacher aide and ran her own business for a short while. She loved gardening as well as travel. After retirement, Barbara and her husband Carl enjoyed cruises and long road trips together. Before his passing, they moved to Lake Livingston to retire in the family lake house. Those who knew Barbara will remember her as an intelligent, selfless, and brave woman. She could play the piano, make a grand slam in bridge with grace, and she never knew a stranger. Barbara loved talking with new people, which made her very popular at her retail job at Target. She was loud, outspoken, and courageous, and she held a special place in her heart for people with disabilities. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Schlueter, her mother and father, Velma Jean and Ray Scott, and her younger brother, Michael Scott. She leaves behind a family who adored her: her two daughters, Carla Nawara and Joey Dyrud-Lange, sons-in-law William Nawara and Jeff Lange, grandchildren: Kathleen Nawara, Britney Nawara, Cayden Dyrud, and Kyle Dyrud. Barbara will be missed dearly by her older brothers, Bill Scott, Ronnie Scott, and younger sister, Beverly Rainwater. Barbara also leaves behind her two grand-dogs, Dutton and Tracer. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Davis Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epilepsy Foundation Texas or American Heart Association.
