August Paul Peters

August Paul Peters, born July 6th, 1925 to Joseph and Frances Peters in Moravia, Texas, and passed away Wednesday, March 6th at Oak Bend Hospital in Richmond Texas, surrounded by his family. August was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, March 12th at 2:00 PM, at the church located at 9214 Main St, Needville, TX 77461, with a graveside service following at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, Texas 77471. Reception to follow at St. Michael’s Parish Hall in Needville. Viewing will begin on Monday, March 11th at 5:00 PM at Davis-Greenlawn, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. August is preceded in death by his sons, August P. Peters Jr and James M. Peters; sons-in-law Jim Kveton and Bill Klein, brothers Louis, Joe, Jerry, and Frank Peters; sisters Albina Peters, Stazie Kasmir, Emily Wagner, and Betty Wetz. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Andel Peters; his children, Carol (Kelly) Hope, Jane Kveton, Dorothy Klein, Ronnie (Thelma) Peters, Jo Ann (Carl) Petrosky, Donnie Peters, and Jeffrey (Darlene) Peters, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. August Peters was a World War II Navy Veteran. Nothing made him feel prouder than serving his country except the love he had for his wife and family. His children remember him as a gentle, loving father that worked hard as a cotton and corn farmer, a galvanizer for AB Chance and he eventually retired from Fort Bend County Drainage District. He was easy-going, patient, and understanding, with a heart of gold. He also had a “green thumb” and enjoyed gardening. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. They remember the man that was always waiting with a smile and a hug. Each and every one knew they were dearly loved. He and Dorothy were married for 72 years. Their love and respect for each other has been an inspiration and a life-long celebration for our entire family. The love he had for “Mama” was obvious to anyone who knew them. August Peters was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and brother. He will be missed by many and forgotten by none.
