Arnold W. Barcak

A funeral mass for Arnold W. Barcak, 80, of Rosenberg will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg with Fr. William D. Bartniski officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Arnold was born October 9, 1929 in Rosenberg to William and Emma Smejdovec Barcak. Ahtha or Noldie, as he was affectionately known by those who loved him, was fiercely independent yet a kind and gentle soul. Honest and hard working, with laughing blue eyes that would have an extra sparkle when someone he loved or a friend stopped by for a visit, he loved the outdoors. In his younger years, he hunted and fished with his father, William, his big brother, Jerome and his Uncle John. In recent years he would grab his cane pole, get a few grub worms and go to the ditch and catch a mud cat or two for supper. Later he would remark about the good supper he had. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on the family farm on Friday, June 11, 2010. Arnold is preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Smejdovec Barcak; brother, Jerome Barcak, Sr.; and best friend, Buddy. Arnold is survived by his faithful companion, Nipsy; sister-in-law, Mildred Barcak of Rosenberg; nieces, Margaret Matthews and husband, Allan, of Rosenberg, Evelyn Haas and husband, Dennis, of Georgetown; nephew, Jerome Barcak, Jr. and wife, Agnes, of Rosenberg; great nieces, Angie Mehdizadegan and husband, Max, of Rockwall, Christy Baca and husband, Todd, of Round Rock and Denise Loranc and husband, Joey, of Round Rock; great nephews, Jason Barcak and wife, Alex, of Damon and Juston Barcak of Rosenberg; great great nieces, Tori Barcak Webb, Skylar Noble and Chloe Baca; great great nephews, Arian Mehdizadegan, Brennan, Aiden and Kelton Barcak, Hudson Baca; along with many cousins and friends. Pallbearers will include Jerome Barcak, Jr., Dennis Haas, Allan Matthews, Jason Barcak, Juston Barcak and J.T. Rogers.
