Ann L. Blinka

Ann Lorraine DeWeese Blinka was born January 14, 1929 at home in Cunningham, Kansas to Oliver and Leona McMichael DeWeese. After a brief but brave fight with cancer she died at her home in Richmond on September 27, 2009. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on October 1, 2009 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pastor Norm Albertson will officiate. Visitation will be held 5 – 8 p.m., Wednesday September 30, at the Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel. On August 11, 1955, she married Robert E. "Bob" Blinka in Wichita, Kansas moving with him to Fort Bend County in 1957. They moved to their present home in 1958 where they raised 3 children. Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Blinka, her parents and her brother, Billy DeWeese. She is survived by her children, Vicki Lyman of Pflugerville, Renee Sullivan and her husband Robert of Needville and Rodney Blinka and his wife Cindy of Rosenberg. She also leaves Grandchildren which she greatly loved; Michael and Steven Lyman; Rory and Robert Sullivan, III and Megan, Cameron and Colleen Blinka. She is also survived by one Great-Grandson, Tyler Lyman-Palmer. Other surviving family members include, sister, Donna DeWeese and sister-in-laws Beverly DeWeese, Lois Blinka and Dorothy Goodson along with numerous nieces and nephews. In 1967, with her children all in school, Ann accepted the receptionist position with the Rose-Rich Veterinarian Clinic which was located at that time on Ave. H in Rosenberg. She enjoyed 23 years with Dr. Robinson and Dr. "Mc" before retiring. The family wishes to thank her neighbors, especially Rose and Brookes Stavinoha, Rudy Folkens and Elizabeth Freund for their compassion and for watching over her since Bob's passing. Pallbearers for Mrs. Blinka will be: Michael Lyman, Steven Lyman, Robert Sullivan, III, Cameron Blinka, Wayne Blinka and Michael DeWeese. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Charles McDonald, Dr. G. Tucker Robinson, Brookes Stavinoha and Kirby Schultz. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Rosenberg-Richmond Meals on Wheels or to Peace Lutheran Church, Rosenberg, Texas.
