Albin Ralph Kovar

Albin “Al” Ralph Kovar, age 72, passed away Monday, July 17, 2023 at Memorial Herman Heart and Vascular Institute - Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Al was born January 19, 1951 in Seymour, Texas, Baylor County, to Albin Julius Kovar and Agnes Josephine Kovar. Al was preceded in death by his father, mother, baby sister, and brothers David and Donald M. Kovar. Al is dearly missed and survived by his ex-wife Flory Kovar; step-son Anthony Fletcher and wife Christina; step-daughter Ferrah Burchchild; brother Wayne and wife Sarah Kovar; sister Inez and husband Bill Ewart; sister-in-law Joyce Kovar; six step grand-children: Ashley-Jeline, Ashley-Lauren, Dylan, and Rachael Fletcher, and Makenzee and Lynzee Bloomfield; nieces and nephews: Shelly and husband Raymond Johnson, Kevin and wife Michelle Kovar, Rollin and wife Sarah Ewart, Ryan Ewart, Amber Ewart, Donald Kovar, and Theresa and husband Dan Gage; Children of nieces and nephews: Raelynn and Logan Kovar; Ethan, Joshua, and Clara Ewart; Madelyn Gage and husband Justin Warner, Mason and Mikayla Gage; and some very special friends: Tony Seychel, Mark Randolph, and Richard “Ross” Sirabella. Al worked at the Richmond State School for many years and then as a Student Counselor for Lamar Consolidated Independent School District until he retired. Al loved the outdoors, including camping, boating, dove hunting, and hiking, and spent many years as part of the Boy Scouts, taking his first troop as Scoutmaster to summer camp at Tall Timbers in July 1973, and continued enjoying scouting with his oldest nephew as part of his troop. He also took a group of scouts to Philmont Scout Ranch High Adventure in Cimarron, NM, where they hiked and camped for two weeks.
